Lima is tiring: the horn beeping, the lack of respect for the basic road rules, the pollution. Just another modern capital in other words. We however find in Lima what we had lost when leaving Argentina: civilisation. The publicity on the car and on the website help us to quickly find a mechanics through the VW beetle club in Peru (www.caveperu.net). We meet John who invites us to one of the weekly meetings on the car park of Plaza Lima Sur. We'll meet again the following week to do a presentation of the H2 Project and the ease of use of hydrogen.
We are also contacted by Ricardo a member of another club VW beetle club (www.srgt.com) who invites for a meal on the following Sunday. We meet his wife Haruko with who we organise a presentation of the H2 Project at the international English school of Lima where she teaches.
In other words our stay in Lima is really busy and we have little time to discover the city: we will eventually visit the huacas, massive antique pyramids right in the centre of the capital.
We also meet a nice chap called Olivier whose interest for the H2 Project calls my attention adn so I decide to offer him to accompany us which he immediately accepts.
The next day we meet with Vincent who quickly left Bolivia to come and celebrate his 30th birthday here in Lima.
In the meantime Segundo (aka the Chino Ipa) is dealing with all the little nagging problems on the car: he will do it with the same passion that he had for the last 30 years and for the price of the usual contribution to the H2 Project. Many thanks again Segundo!
Right, we are now back in the car and leaving Lima (another) rainy day. Let's go to Casma where we'll spend the night.
