Diego got in touch with us before we got to Ecuador. He isn't just the President of the VW beetle club in Quito (CATSO Club) but also a very good mechanics (DIAUTO: 2346008 o 092533216). After chatting a few minutes at the weekly VW gathering, he offered to fix the car.

So I found myself the next 3 days giving a hand to a bunch of passionate aficionados or sharing a meal with friendly people: Jaime fixing the roof-case, Jose adjusting the leaking rings, Santi revising the car, Buda changing the springs and Diego caring the engine.

So was it a surprise to be told by Diego he wouldn't charge us for the work done? Beyong the sponsoring aspects, our experience of Ecuador has been a warm reminder of skills and humanity.
